Our Commitment to Early Development

Mission

Our mission is to empower Kansas families and caregivers, providing resources and support for infants and toddlers with developmental challenges to achieve their fullest potential through everyday learning and development.

Purpose

Our primary objective is to enhance the development of infants and toddlers with disabilities, minimize the risk of developmental delays, and emphasize the critical nature of brain development in a child's first three years. Additionally, we are dedicated to empowering families to effectively meet the unique needs of their young children with disabilities.

Seven Key Principles of Early Intervention

  1. Learning in Familiar Settings: Young children learn best through everyday activities with familiar people. Our Service providers support families in creating learning opportunities during routine activities like play and mealtime.
  2. Family Support and Resources: All families can enhance their children's development with the proper support. Our providers assess and fulfill family needs, providing resources and information to help access services like healthcare and education.
  3. Family-Centered Service: Our providers work closely with family members, respecting their roles and cultural beliefs, and involve them in all early intervention stages.
  4. Individualized Intervention: The early intervention process is tailored to each child and family, considering their preferences, learning styles, and cultural beliefs. Plans are regularly updated based on progress and feedback.
  5. Goal-Oriented Outcomes: Intervention goals are functional, meaningful, and based on the child's and family's priorities. These goals are measurable and focus on the child's strengths.
  6. Primary Provider Model: A primary provider coordinates the intervention plan, acting as a liaison between the family and other resources, ensuring the family's needs are met.
  7. Evidence-based interventions: Interventions are based on research, validated practices, and laws. Our providers continually update their methods based on research and feedback.
